This weekend, the incredible organization Pilots N Paws was brought to our attention via the ABC news video coverage about them. In short, they connect animal rescue folks with volunteer pilots to arrange rescue flights, overnight foster care, much needed shelter during disasters and much more.
Since so many of you care about animals but aren't in a position to to fly a plane, we thought you'd want to know that Pilots N Paws has just kicked off Pilots N Paws 5000- a week-long push to save 5,000 rescue animals. That's right - 5,000 animals in one week. A very ambitious goal, so we wanted to let you all know.
How can you help? If you work with an LA rescue, shelter or foster organization, get the word out. PNP has provided detailed instructions on what is needed from each of you to help make this happen. If you have animals in high kill areas that could find a forever home elsewhere, this is a program for you to get involved in. If you know of pilots who would love to volunteer their time to help save animal lives, please let them know about this effort. Flight costs are tax deductible.
If you don't fly planes and don't work in shelters, you can always donate directly to Pilots N Paws as they will need as much help as possible to make this happen.
The drive ends on Sunday, September 20th - so do what you can. Though they are in South Carolina, there are many dogs in our own community that may need this incredible service.
