For the past few years, Walk Fido has held Downtown Doggie Etiquette seminars for downtown LA residents. It is a seminar that doesn't include fidos, just their owners. The goal? To provide tips & tricks & guidelines for folks that are new to downtown living with a dog. Because let's face it: there are no narrow sidewalks, no elevators, no concrete jungles in the more suburban parts of LA. Living with a dog (or two or three) downtown brings with it very specific situations that many dog-owners have not previously encountered.
Since we live in & walk dogs all over downtown, we have a unique perspective on some of those challenges & give out this information during our seminars.
The downside? This information is only as good as the number of people who possess it. For any downtown dog etiquette to truly work, all downtown dog owners need to know the rules. And not all downtown dog owners have taken our seminar.
So, imagine how pleased we were to see that the Downtown Bid has put together a little postcard that highlights some of the very things he focus on in our seminar:
While this is only the beginning, it is a good one. We have many more to add (like the most basic but holy grail of all tips: your dog must be on a leash) and will do so over the next few weeks, but we're happy to see that DowntownLA.com and the BID team is thinking the same way we are about creating a downtown community that is safe & enjoyable for dog owners and non-dog owners alike.
