Last night we were listening to an NPR piece on The Road to Recovery for Michael Vick's dogs and we were introduced to Jim Gorant's book The Lost Dogs: Michael Vick's Dogs and Their Tale of Rescue and Redemption.
We've followed this story since we first learned of it and it has been difficult to watch Michael Vick's star rise again so soon after he finished serving time (both actual time and much PR time) for the crimes he committed and the animals he tortured. As the NFL season gets underway and we see Vick shine brightly in the spotlight once again, we're finding ourselves getting...in a word...angry.
Listening to the NPR piece (very much worth your time) was a welcome reminder to set aside our anger (for a moment) and focus on the dogs. We've ordered a few copies of The Lost Dogs to read and share with Walk Fido staff. We'll keep you posted as we read. Have you read it yet? What do you think? Would love to know your thoughts in the comments.
